Program Goals

Mississippi Delta Community College values the need to promote education for all students in our district of service. The growth and proposed expansion of the Prison Education Program at Parchman is fully aligned with the mission and goals of Mississippi Delta Community College. Mississippi Delta Community College is dedicated to improving the community through “intellectual, social, cultural, and recreational opportunities.” The PEP will allow students who are incarcerated to pursue a full Associate of Arts degree. The overall goal is to help reduce recidivism rates and increase employment opportunities upon post-release. As MDCC students, students who participate in the program will gain valuable skills and knowledge that will prepare them to become productive returning citizens.
