Program Effectiveness Data
Program Goal #1. The MDCC PTA Program will graduate competent and professional entry-level physical therapist assistants able to work under the direction and supervision of a physical therapist.
Expected outcomes for goal #1
- 1.1. 90% of program graduates will annually pass the NPTE-PTA
- 1.2. 90% of program graduates seeking employment will be employed within one year of graduation
- 1.3. 100% of students will be rated at Entry-Level in all 14 Clinical Performance Instrument performance criteria prior to graduation
- 1.4. 80% of responses to each question on the Employer of Graduate Survey results rating graduate performance, including professionalism, will be “Entry Level” or “Exceeds Entry Level”
- 1.5. 100% of graduates will be rated as Entry-level on all 10 Professional Behaviors prior to graduation
Program Goal #2. The MDCC PTA Program will produce graduates who can exhibit effective critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Expected outcomes for goal #2
- 2.1. At least 80% of responses for each question on the Program’s Employer of Graduate Survey regarding critical thinking and problem solving will be at “Entry level” or “Exceeds Entry Level”
- 2.2. 100% of graduates will receive an Entry-level assessment in regard to Critical Thinking and Problems Solving on The Professional Behaviors
- 2.3. 100% of students will be rated at Entry-Level in all 14 Clinical Performance Instrument performance criteria prior to graduation
Program Goal #3. The MDCC PTA Program will promote the importance lifelong learning and professional development through continued learning opportunities and membership in professional organizations.
Expected outcomes for goal #3
- 3.1. 100% of PTA Program faculty will maintain membership in the APTA and Mississippi Physical Therapy Association
- 3.2. The PTA Program will host a workshop on either clinical education or a clinical topic annually
- 3.3. 50% of graduates will maintain APTA membership one year after graduation
- 3.4. 75% of graduates will have attended a professional development/continuing education event within a year of graduation, assessed through the alumni survey
Program Goal #4. The MDCC PTA Program faculty will provide comprehensive evidence-based curriculum based on contemporary physical therapy practice within an atmosphere of academic excellence.
Expected outcomes for goal #4
- 4.1. At least 80% of responses for each Program alumni survey question regarding the curriculum and faculty will be rated as “Agree” or “Strongly Agree”
- 4.2. At least 80% of responses for each Program student exit survey question regarding the curriculum and faculty will be rated as “Agree” or “Strongly Agree”
- 4.3. At least 80% of responses from each student course evaluation will be rated as “Excellent” or “Very Good”
- 4.4. 100% of core faculty will state up to date with contemporary physical therapy practice through part-time clinical practice and/or appropriate professional education
Program Goal #5. The MDCC PTA Program will prepare graduates to be culturally competent professionals able to effectively communicate with patients, caregivers, and other healthcare providers.
Expected outcomes for goal #5
- 5.1. At least 80% of responses for each question on the Program’s Employer of Graduate Survey regarding graduate communication and cultural competence will be at “Entry level or “Exceeds entry level”.
- 5.2. 100% of graduates will be rated as “Entry-level” for Communication and Interpersonal Skills on the Professional Behaviors prior to graduation
- 5.3. 100% of graduates will self-assess themselves as “Entry-level” or “Exceeds Entry-level” regarding communication and cultural competence on the program alumni survey
